On March 24, 2021, Ambassador Wang Shunqing lodged serious representations to the Slovenian Foreign Ministry, and expressed strong condemnation on behalf of the Chinese government, on the EU's decision to impose unilateral sanctions against China regarding the so-called human rights issues in Xinjiang. The Ambassador also notified the Slovenian Foreign Ministry of China's countermeasures.

China urges the EU side to correct the mistakes and put an end to confrontation, in order to avoid further damage to China-EU ties, said the Ambassador.
